Guest Post/Giveaway Heather Lire

I'm so excited to welcome author Heather Lire to my blog today!!! I am a huge fan of her Holiday, Vermont series and have loved both books in the series so far. In Second Chance at Happiness, we get to watch Colin and Brynn fall in love. I own the fact that as soon as I finished reading their story, I emailed Heather to find out when her next book would be available....not nearly fast enough for me FYI.

I asked Heather to pick any topic and she selected talking about her town Holiday. I'm from a small town, so I love how Heather came up with her ideas.

Why Holiday?

Someone recently asked me why I chose to name the fictional town my stories take place in Holiday.

The answer was simple, because that is what Morgan the heroine in the first book wanted. A town that celebrated everything that made living in a small town unique. One that reminded everyone why we have holidays.

Creating the town of Holiday was the easy part as I based it on the small town I grew up in. When it came time for the major holidays my town did it up in style. The Fourth of July and Christmas were done up in style.

During the summer the local college had festivals and plays going.

But what I loved best about growing up in a small town was that everyone knew everybody. There was no sense of isolation from your neighbors. You knew who they were and looked out for each other.

This is what I've recreated in Holiday. A sense of a community and the type of environment we all want to live in. One where it's safe to leave your doors unlocked and where your neighbors aren't strangers.

With each book in the series I learn just a little bit more about this town and the people who live in it, whether they are born and raised there or move there as adults.

In the case of Colin and Brynn they are transplants to the community. Both have visited often as Colin's grandmother retired there, and Brynn because her sister moved there to teach at the local college. Whenever they've encountered each other they've exchanged insults or ignored one another. This all has to stop when Colin's best friend marries Brynn's twin sister.

What happens next is something that was a long time coming.

BIO: Heather has traveled all over the world, speaks multiple languages, collects romance books like they're going out of style, and has multiple book boyfriends. Ok, she hasn't been all over the world, except in her mind. She does however speak multiple languages and collect romance books. Her long suffering husband and sons roll their eyes at all her book boyfriends. When she's not busy traveling the world in her mind she can be found at one of her sons many sporting events and on twitter, where she talks about what else romance books. She loves to hear what you think about her stories so please drop her a note and tell her.

Where you can find Heather around the web

I enjoy reading books that take place in small towns.. especially if the writer does a great job of capturing the scenery.. It makes me feel like I'm a resident of that town..
