Archangel's Shadows

Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s sensual and painfully beautiful Guild Hunter world in her new novel of sacrifice, loyalty, and the choices of love that can shatter the heart.

In the wake of a brutal war, the archangel Raphael and his hunter consort, Elena, are dealing with the treacherously shifting tides of archangelic politics and the people of a battered but not broken city. The last thing their city needs is more death, especially a death that bears the eerie signature of an insane enemy archangel who cannot—should not—be walking the streets.

This hunt must be undertaken with stealth and without alerting their people. It must be handled by those who can become shadows themselves…

Ash is a gifted tracker and a woman cursed with the ability to sense the secrets of anyone she touches. But there’s one man she knows all too well without a single instant of skin contact: Janvier, the dangerously sexy Cajun vampire who has fascinated and infuriated her for years. Now, as they track down a merciless killer, their cat-and-mouse game of flirtation and provocation has turned into a profound one of the heart. And this time, it is Ash’s secret, dark and terrible, that threatens to destroy them both.

Guild Hunter Series Book 7

I was lucky enough to get a review copy of Archangel's Shadows thanks to the publisher through NetGalley. I am a huge fan of Nalini Singh and countdown the days between books in both the Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series.

I was so excited to get Ash's book! I have wanted Ash and Janvier's story from the moment I first read about them and can only say Ms. Singh totally delivered with an amazing book!

Finding out more about both Ash and Janvier's past allowed me to understand both characters more than I had in the past. I knew Ash had issues touching people because she could always feel emotions, but never imagined how hard a life she lived because of that power. The fact that her family didn't support her or give her all the facts of her family only made her stronger in my eyes.

I love how protective Janvier was of Ash. Even as they are working together to hunt down a monster, Janvier will do anything to ensure Ash's safety. I have to admit I figured out the monster about the same time as Ash and Janvier did and some of the victims broke my heart way more than others.

The chemistry and attraction that has been there from the very beginning only felt strong the more time they spent together. I loved Ash and Janvier as a couple so much!I honestly felt like they drew the strength they needed from one another to be stronger as both individuals and as a couple.

We also got to spend time with Raphael and Elena in this book. I honestly could read a new book just about them with each new story I love them so much. I love getting to spend time with so many of Raphael's Seven, especially Bluebell. :) Watching the relationship between Raphael and Elena grow and strengthen over the course of the series makes me love the series even more.

Archangel's Shadows is a very strong addition to the Guild Hunter series from Nalini Singh. While I think you will understand more about the dynamics of the series by reading the books in order, Archangel's Shadows could be read as a stand-alone book.
